Indian Squad for ICC World Cup 2019

17th April 2019
On paper, it seems India decided to stick to the One-Day International squad they fielded over the recent few months -- in the ODI series against Australia and New Zealand -- except for a surprise inclusion and two exclusions. Along with Rishabh Pant, Ambati Rayudu is set to miss the flight to the UK after having failed to impress much with the willow. Dinesh Karthik stumped young wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to make a surprise entry in India's 15-member squad for the World Cup 2019, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai on Monday. As expected, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were picked for the top three spots. KL Rahul was included as the back-up opener. Also, he has a role in the top order, he will be the reserve opener in this game. All-rounder Vijay Shankar made it for his "three-dimensional" qualities. Ambati Rayudu, who has been India's No.4 since last year's Asia Cup, had an indifferent Australia series and has not set the IPL on fire either.
The team consists of following players:
1. Virat Kohli (Capt)
2. Rohit Sharma (VC)
3. Shikhar Dhawan
4. KL Rahul
5. Vijay Shankar
6. MSD (wk)
7. Kedar Jadhav
8. Dinesh Karthik
9. Yuzvendra Chahal
10. Kuldeep Yadav
11. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
12. Jasprit Bumrah
13. Hardik Pandya
14. Ravindra Jadeja
15. Mohd Shami
Although the nucleus of the team is already decided, there are still some spots up for grabs. Today we are going to take a look at five such players who can still make the 2019 World Cup squad.
1. Rishabh Pant
2. Ravindra Jadeja
3. Prithvi shaw
4. Krunal Pandya
5. Manish Pandey
The opening of the Indian team on the ground will be on the 8th day of ODI which is 05th of June with South African players.
